The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy (2005 film)

    February 11, 2024

After reading the book, I didn't think there was a possible way to adapt this into a movie. But of course they were going to.

The World is Flat: A Brief History of the Twenty-First Century

    February 11, 2024

I was supposed to read this in school. Years later, I finally got around to it. Originally published in 2005, this third edition was updated and expanded for the ever-increasing amount of technology in the world. What was timely when this was published is now a matter of history. Which,…

The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy (The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy #1)

    February 10, 2024

In 2024, the year that I'm writing this and, incidentally, the year that I read this book, I turn 42 years old. Anyone who knows me probably wouldn't be surprised to learn that I would love to explore the galaxy. Since I'm not an astronaut and because humans haven't really…

    Flowers for Algernon (2000 film)

    February 4, 2024

This film had an uphill battle given how classic the book was. I think that this being the first adaptation (that I could find) since the book's release 34 years earlier was telling. Also, a made-for-TV movie, or movie of the week, wasn't what I was expecting.

    Flowers for Algernon

    February 4, 2024

I've heard about this book a lot, but somehow it's never really made it to my reading list. I suppose that's because I never really knew what it was about. But recently I was seeing it on a lot of top sci-fi book lists and I thought, hmm, I didn't…

    The Stars My Destination

    February 3, 2024

I'm baaack! But at least I didn't have to wait forever while I created an alternate identity so as to find and get close to the ones I hate in an effort to ruin their lives and kill them... Whoa... sorry about that. Anyhow, this book is considered one of…

My Rating Scale:
5 stars:
Superb! Couldn’t put it down! Will read again! Can’t recommend this one enough!
4 stars:
Great! Really enjoyed it. Maybe a few issues, but I definitely recommend and I may read it again someday.
3 stars:
Good. I enjoyed it, but maybe there were issues or something missing. Glad I read it but probably won’t choose to read again.
2 stars:
Not great. Not the worst book I’ve ever read, but I’d have a hard time recommending it and I highly doubt I’ll choose to read this again.
1 star:
Ugh. Did not like it at all.
DNF: Did not finish. I won’t rate it because that’s not really fair since I chose not to finish it.

Sometimes I’ll watch movies that are adaptations of books and review those with a sort of compare/contrast kind of thing.

I’m a CPA and work a lot. I’ll try to update this as quick as I can when I finish a book. Mainly because if I wait too long, I’ll probably forget what the book is even about…

And if this is your first time here, and if you’re really that bored, you can read my very first post here!
