Thoughts

This book does a great job taking a lot of information we know about life and considering where we might be able to find it – not only within our solar system, but in the cosmos. Not only that, the author thinks about both life as we know it and life as we don’t know it.

Ever since I caught wind of the teachings of Carl Sagan, I love looking into other contemporary science communicators. Nathalie A. Cabrol isn’t someone I was previously familiar with, but this book gives the reader not only the facts, but her personal journey with those facts as well. And her writing is so good it makes things understandable for someone like me (not an astrobiologist).

This was a book club pick for The Planetary Society and I think they picked a winner with this one. This isn’t something I probably would have picked up off the shelf otherwise, but I’m so glad I read it. I gave this 5 out of 5 stars!
