Thoughts

A friend at work suggested I read this book as I do enjoy playing golf, but I’m not completely obsessed with it. He wanted to see if it would appeal to someone who doesn’t live and breathe golf.

I had a lot of fun with this book. Basically it’s about a group of friends that spend all their time at an old, rundown public golf course. Which happens to be right next to a swanky private golf club. Once they catch sight of it through the shrub wall the two courses share, they lay down bets on who will be the first to play a full round of 18 on the private course.

And hilarity ensues…

Just when you think one of them has a great idea, another comes in with a better one.

But what does “winning” really look like? There’s actually some heart in the book that you don’t see coming. I’m not sure it’s meant to make us think or not, but I think a reader could pull some morals and messages from this book.

Overall, I gave this 4 out of 5 stars. It was really well done and quite a fun read. There were some aspects that kind of drug on, but ultimately it was a pretty fun ride. Even for a fair-weather golfer such as myself.
