I don’t remember when I first saw the 1957 Sidney Lumet film, 12 Angry Men, but it has always been a favorite of mine. I don’t really know how I missed the fact that it was based on a book!
I read A Christmas Carol every year at Christmastime. It is currently my all-time favorite book. I know the story by heart – who doesn’t? Scrooge is nearly as synonymous with Christmas as Jesus Himself! The book is extremely readable and short enough that I would encourage everyone to make reading this book part of their holiday tradition.
Are you tired of reading? Are you looking for a book to put you into a nice reading slump? Or a coma? Well, I have good news and bad news… The good news is that this book can help you in those areas. The bad news is that means you have to read it…
Classic horror. A haunted house. Multiple movies/shows based on it. What could go wrong? This book has a lot to offer from the haunts, the investigation, and the psychological chills. But is it really scary? Let’s just say that I would have found it entertaining if Zak Bagans and the Ghost Adventure Crew showed up…
I read this book in one day. I had no idea some of these classics were so short! Good thing too… I wouldn’t have wanted much more of this one.
I’ve always been interested in reading John Steinbeck. In high school I had the option of reading The Grapes of Wrath or Song of Solomon by Toni Morrison. I chose poorly, as the Grail Knight would say. Anyway, I’m wandering through a Maui Friends of the Library bookshop and am browsing through the classics when what to my wandering eyes should appear, but this tiny book. I had no idea this one was so short. And I thought, maybe this would be a good introduction for me to John Steinbeck. But was it, though? Read on and find out…
